Astronomy Lab and Clay Telescope

dome

Welcome to the Harvard University Astronomy Lab and Clay Telescope website! The lab and telescope are primarily used for undergraduate Astronomy courses and student research projects.

The Astronomy Lab is a small computer lab with 3 Macs and 3 PCs. There is a rook deck heliostat with a spectrograph and a CCD camera for imaging. We have a few other smaller telescopes, which we use for night time observing and for viewing and imaging the sun (with proper filters, of course!), and many fun lab experiments.

The Clay Telescope sits atop the Science Center building. The telescope can be used for visual observations, CCD imaging or spectroscopy. It can be controlled from inside the dome or from the Astronomy Lab.

The Astronomy Department at Harvard is one of the best. It is also very large and sometimes confusing, so below are some useful external links to help guide your way.
